Teacher resources

We have downloadable resources for teachers to use with their classes after our in-school presentations. These include activities and ideas for lessons which reinforce the online safety messages we talk about in our sessions. Please click on the age-appropriate link below to download a resource pack. If you have any questions about the content of the pack please do get in touch.

  • What size audience can you accommodate?
Schools: We prefer to talk to a maximum of two year groups at a time. This is because our presentations are very specifically targeted to different age groups. Generally, we talk to years 1 and 2 together, then 3 and 4; and 5 and 6. Secondary groupings are similar. The number of pupils of course varies with each setting, but generally, anything over 150 pupils becomes harder to give an in-depth presentation to. Non-school sessions: We are incredibly flexible with our speaker sessions and are happy to deliver to a group of any size. Please do note that the smaller the group size the more opportunity for interaction and personal engagement which does lead to deeper impact and learning. We are more than happy to talk to you about your specific requirements.
  • What's included in the presentation?
This is age-dependent but includes a talk with a Powerpoint presentation and age-appropriate video clips. Time for Q&A is allowed during the presentation and at the end. Please find more information about what's included on this page.
  • Do you deliver virtual sessions?
We are able to offer all our talks via Zoom, Teams or Google Classroom. These can be delivered to the main hall with pupils watching a screen, or to screens within a range of classrooms at the same time. We are eager to work with more schools to deliver via Zoom so please do contact us to discuss your needs.

A Breck Foundation film: Breck's Last Game

Breck's Last Game is our award-winning film that was a collaboration between us and four police forces. It won
a silver medal at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards
in 2019.

We use it in our secondary presentations to highlight the risks of grooming by asking the question: “Do you know who your online friends really are?” , but the film is also an excellent way for parents to open up conversations with teenagers about online safety. Please do watch the film first to assess whether this is right for your child.

*Trigger Warning* - grooming, coercive behaviour + violence. This film would be rated 15 if shown in cinemas.

Murder Games:
clips from the BBC documentary

On the BBC Teach pages, there are a series of clips from the BBC Three docudrama, 'Murder Games: The Life and Death of Breck Bednar'.

These clips are relevant for teaching PSHE and computing at KS3 and KS4 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and National 4 and 5 in Scotland.

Whilst some of the resources below were originally created with teachers in mind, they will still be helpful for those parents wanting to engage their children in online safety or keep conversations going which may have started after one of our school or parents speaker sessions.

Did you know we visit organisations and companies (both in person and virtually) to deliver our lifesaving online talks and empower staff to be online safety heroes for the children and young people in their lives - why not invite us into your place of work? Have a look at our speaker session pages for more information.

Breck and the Online Troll

This is an educational book about a real-life story and contains some upsetting themes. It should be
introduced in an environment where children can talk and learn in a supported way. For children with the cognitive age of 8+.

Breck is a strong and fearless knight. When he is befriended by a Troll called Lewis, all is not as it seems. Is it all just a fantasy? Or a terrible truth within?

'Breck and the Online Troll' is designed for special needs and lower-age students to introduce basic online and grooming safety to children.

This is Breck

This is an educational book about a real-life story and contains some upsetting themes. It should be
introduced in an environment where children can talk and learn in a supported way. Ideal for children with the cognitive age of 4+.

This version of the Breck story deals less with the emotions of the Breck story and more with the literal event, making it ideal for autistic children.

Support for teachers

  • STAR SEND Toolkit | Childnet  An online safety teaching toolkit for educators to deliver with young people aged 11-16 with special educational needs and disabilities.

  • Watch Maya’s Story with a child in your care to see how abusers can try to manipulate young people online. It will help them understand that they should tell a trusted adult, who will help them block and report the perpetrator.

For accessibility, watch the British Sign Language version.

A voiceover-only version of the film is also available to view online.
